Seven Effective Ways to Make Stressful Times Easier

There will always be times in life when we feel stressed out. The important thing is that we deal with times of stress in the right way. By facing stress head-on and using methods to alleviate stress levels, you can feel happier and more relaxed. You will then be better prepared to tackle the stressful situations in your life.

Here are just seven effective ways of relieving stress that you will want to consider.

1. Keep Things as Straightforward as You Can, e.g. When Getting a Mortgage

The more complex we make things, the more stressful they can become. So, when you have big things in your life that you need to tackle, such as preparing for an exam or getting a mortgage, keep things as straightforward as possible.

For instance, when you take out a mortgage loan with, you can lock your rate for up to ninety days and guarantee you close on time, which means you can avoid stressing about whether rates will change and whether you will be able to close your property deal.

Simplicity is the key to making activities as stress-free as possible.

2. Surround Yourself with Plants

Studies show that caring for plants can reduce both physiological stress and psychological stress. It is thought that that is the case because caring for plants helps to suppress sympathetic nervous system activity. In turn, you can feel relaxed and more at ease.

So, if you do not currently have many houseplants or outside plants, consider getting some to help you feel more relaxed and deal with situations better when stressful times occur.

3. Put Herbs That Help You to Relax into Your Diet

Different herbs can affect your body in different ways. Some herbs are well-known for helping to reduce stress. For example, high cortisol levels can increase feelings of anxiety but you can take ashwagandha to reduce the levels of cortisol in your blood and feel less stressed.

Other herbs can help you to destress by altering the signal processing in your brain. For instance, valerian root extracts may be able to modulate your brain’s gamma-aminobutyric acid receptors, which can help to reduce anxious feelings.

Other herbs that are often used to help people destress include:

  • Chamomile.
  • Lavender.
  • Cannabidiol.
  • Passionflower.
  • Galphimia glauca.
  • Kava kava.

4. Talk Things Through

While things like herbs and plants can help to relieve stress, there is perhaps no better way to effectively manage stressful times than by talking things through with someone.

Bottling things up will make you more stressed. You should talk through your concerns, worries, and feelings with a trusted friend, family member, or partner. But if you are really struggling with stress, it could be helpful to speak to a professional counselor or attend a support group.

5. Listen to Calming or Upbeat Music

This simple method is very effective for reducing stress. Listening to calming or upbeat music can make you feel relaxed or positive.

So, if you are experiencing stressful times, put together some anti-stress playlists to help you lower your anxiety levels.

6. Exercise

Like listening to music, exercising can help you to destress instantaneously. That is because when you move your body and get your blood flowing, endorphins are released. In turn, those endorphins can instantly lift your mood.

You do not have to spend a long time working out to reap the benefits. Even a short walk can help to release endorphins and make you feel happier and less stressed.

7. Meditate

Meditation can be incredibly effective for relaxing and de-stressing. There are lots of different forms of meditation, though. So, while any type of meditation can be great for relieving anxiousness and stress, you should research the different types to find the right form of meditation for you

For instance, you could engage with mindfulness meditation, focused mediation, movement meditation, loving-kindness meditation, or transcendental meditation.
