Spring Detoxing

Spring is right around the corner, and it's the perfect time to start focusing on your body and what it needs to get back to a clean and healthy lifestyle!  Detoxing is a great way to clean out your system and make you feel healthier and more energized. Detoxes, also known as cleanses, are a suggested way of removing toxins from your body. They work by eliminating and flushing your liver, which allows your body to function properly, setting it up for the support it needs. Detoxes have been found to lower your risk for many diseases associated with toxic build up. Some people also use it as a way to aid weight loss.

Modern day living makes us more likely to become exposed to toxins in our environment such as the air we breathe and the food we eat.  A detoxification plan can help clear out these bad chemicals. Stated by Hotez Health and Wellness Center, “Even though the human body has its own filtering and regenerative systems, these systems can be overwhelmed by high levels of modern-world toxins, to the point that they cannot function as they should. This can leave you not only feeling lousy, but also at risk for illness, weight gain, disease, and other health problems associated with an accumulation of toxins.”

Detox programs, body cleanses and clean eating (including more natural whole foods in your diet), can help you improve your health in many ways. Juice cleansing may be good if you’re looking for a quick and easy way to detox and there are here are several options from which to choose. With juice cleansing you'll also receive vital nutrients that are directly absorbed and it will also provide you with a big boost in energy.  Additionally, using herbal supplements may also be a great way to cleanse your liver and improve its function. “Some detox diets advocate using herbs and other supplements along with colon cleansing (enemas) to empty the intestines”, as stated by the Mayo Clinic. It is recommended to begin using natural supplements in small doses in order to get your body used to the cleansing process.

In short, detoxing is a great way to jumpstart your way to a healthier lifestyle. If you are looking to get in shape and lose weight, it's important to establish healthy eating habits but detoxing can be a great way to help you to achieve your goals. It is easier to lose body fat if you have a clean and healthy body.  As with any healthy lifestyle change, it is important to consider the side effects of detoxing and get approval from your doctor before experimenting.
